Browser / Tab Crashing When Left Open for Extended Period

Maps is now crashing the browser / tab in some instances when has been left open for more than an hour or so.

I am currently suspicious of the METAR auto-refresh code, as it appears to be the only layer triggering this issue for me. Another customer has reported that real-time reflectivity also causes this, however we have been unable to reproduce the issue with that layer on multiple test machines.

We are investigating this extensively and hope to have a fix posted soon. Thank you for your patience.

  "The debug that I left running overnight, indicated that the Maps tab had run out of memory and suggest that “flash” was part of the problem. Flash seems to be an issue with my other computer crashing as well." 

  "Since I last emailed you my Incognito window crashed again. Ran out of memory. I’m guessing that the issue is a memory leak or the orphaning of resources on METAR refreshes."

  I had Metars (temperature)/Frontal Positions/Winter Weather Watches (no real time reflectivity) and it crashed my browser/tab. Using Chrome browser.

  Thanks for that information. I'm looking into having a fix published later today for this issue.

  A fix for this issue has just been moved into production. Please refresh Maps in your browser to retrieve the latest update.

  We will monitor the fix for 48 hours to determine if this truly resolves the issue. If it does, we will close this entry and mark it as resolved.

  Even after a reload and with only METAR temps loaded, browser still crashing.

  OK.  I have had Chrome and Firefox up for more than 18 hours on different computers running METAR.  I have yet to have a crash.

  That's great news! Thanks for the update.

  Other feeds that would trigger this are nearly anything under "Overlays" as they are mostly all drawn on the screen.

  I'll leave this open for another 24 hours before I close it as solved.
