With the "nonoperational" release of GFS 0.25º data, we have switched our model processing code to process the upgraded GFS (T1534).
GFS resolution has been improved to 13km from 27km in AH Maps as of the 12Z Nov 02, 2014 run. Our code will revert to the 0.5 degree GFS if the 0.25 degree ever becomes unavailable.
You can compare the 12Z of the 0.5 degree (#2 in the run list) to the 12Z of the 0.25 degree (#1 in the run list) in Maps for as long as those runs are available.
This also marks the release of the "3 Hour Precipitation by Type" product for the GFS. Enjoy!
