It would be nice if you would add winter radar because winter is knocking on the door!!!

  Bob,

  We're still working on PTYPE on the Real-Time Radar products. This has proven to be more difficult than expected. I would hope to have a solution within the next week.

  Attached is a screenshot from the HRRR using PTYPE on the Accumulated Precipitation (1 hr) product. We'll be expanding this product to all models this evening. Accumulated snowfall, snow depth and other Winter products will be added throughout the next couple of days.

  Chris,

  Precipitation Type and Snowfall products are available on each model as of last week.

  We are continuing to work on Precipitation Typing for the Real-Time Radar Mosaic. We took a big step toward getting this completed earlier in the week. It is our hope to have this ready by next Friday. We're in San Antonio for the next 4 days for an Emergency Management conference (IAEM/EMEX) and will likely be unable to get anything done until afterward.

  Please accept our apologies for this delay. Unfortunately this isn't as easy as we had originally expected. However we're now on track and are very confident this can be completed in a weeks time.

  This will be completed within the next 24 hours. I've completed the grunt work and just need to automate it all now.

  This has been completed. You'll see an additional product titled "Precipitation Typed Radar" under Real-Time > Radar Mosaics.

  Currently we only PTYPE between Snow and Rain. We will add Freezing Rain within the next week and improve the smoothing between different precipitation types.

  Freezing Rain has been added to Precipitation Typed Radar.

  

  More tweaks to the algorithm are still to come!

  Model Reflectivity now has a PType Option! This is currently live on the HRRR and will go into production within the next 2-3 hours for the NAM and NAM-WRF. The WRF-ARW and WRF-NMMB will see this update after the 0600 UTC run.
