The ability to display wind barbs instead of colored arrows for all wind values in Maps.

Ryan Hickman Jeff,
This is in the works. We must vector draw each barb so that they scale when zooming, just as the arrows currently do. This improves the legibility of the display at all zoom levels.
This will be a customization option so that users can choose the preferred display method. I would predict this is 3-4 weeks out, but that could be less if the actual vector drawing goes quicker than expected.
Thanks for the recommendation. It's good to at least have this listed in the forum as something we are actively working on.

Ryan Hickman This is almost complete. I have some bugs to work out, but the vector drawing is going quite well and definitely ahead of schedule. I would expect a release by early morning tomorrow if not sometime tonight.
P.S. - If you're sneaky enough, you can watch as I develop the barbs. The screenshot tells you where to go. Just understand caches may limit you unless you start switching runs / hours.

Ryan Hickman The barbs are complete and have been available on 10m winds for at least a week now. We'll be exposing a customizations page to all Maps customers to modify how certain overlays appear. Obviously upper-level winds will be included on that page so that you can switch to barbs on 850mb, 500mb, etc. individually.

Ryan Hickman Moving this back to Planned until we get this added for Upper-AIr winds. Once that is done, the icon will be user-selectable between the arrows or the barbs.

Ryan Hickman New barbs have been posted for 10 meter winds. These are based on AllisonHouse's barb iconsheet and are far less intrusive when compared to the previous vector barbs.
We'll now be working on Upper-Air barbs (100kts+) and applying the appropriate color tables to each level. We'll then provide the barbs for all levels and provide a customization option to choose between the arrows or the barbs.
