Can you add snowfall to the models, ex. 24 hour snowfall or run total snowfall?

Ryan Hickman This can and will be done before the next Winter system arrives.
Sorry for the delay.

Carter Humphreys Thanks

Carter Humphreys Do you have an eta as to when this may become available?

Ryan Hickman Carter,
We're in the Quality Control phase for Winter products. I expect to have them ready within the next 24 hours. You'll see "1 Hr Snow" under the HRRR > Precipitation category. This is our testbed for the time being, as the products come in almost constantly since it is a one hour model.
Attached is a screenshot of Total Snowfall via the HRRR. It's valid October 30th at 5Z and was initiated October 29th at 21Z. We're working on a new color table that isn't as drastic and does a better job of depicting a Winter theme.

Carter Humphreys Is it only the HRRR or are you planning on doing it for all the models? Thanks.

Ryan Hickman Carter,
All models. We're testing using the HRRR.

Carter Humphreys ok. Thank you Ryan.

Ryan Hickman We're continuing to expand the Winter / Snowfall products. Accumulation is on the horizon for all models.
Tonight we have released 1 hr Precipitation by Type. This will help differentiate between rain, snow, freezing rain and ice. You can test it on the HRRR immediately (refresh Maps) and we'll try and get it into the other models this evening. (00Z run)
More to come.

Ryan Hickman Marking this as done since it directly references "Snowfall" and not "Snow Accumulation." Will create a separate thread for the Accumulation products.
NAM / RAP are the only holdouts. The code I use to process those models is older than what is used for the GFS, NAM-WRF and HRRR. I'll get these models converted over to the new code very soon and we should have these products added to those models shortly thereafter.

Carter Humphreys ok thank you.

Ryan Hickman WRF-ARW and WRF-NMMB now have these products.
