From time to time the National Weather Service assists in Amber Alerts by issuing “Child Abduction Emergency” advisory statements for the general public. They are placed on the general map just as other advisory / watches / warnings are placed in the “amber” color.
Though I know it’s not-meteorological I noticed that the largest network on Earth is “Spotter Network”. By count this network far outguns anything out there. There are coordinated groups of HAM radio operators and other agencies that are a part of Spotter Network to support the FBI, State and local law enforcement out there…
Is it not possible to place the Child Abduction Emergency advisories in the “watch and warning by county” section? And is it not possible that if there were a significant, verifiable Child Abduction Emergency is issued for the independent groups of spotters through Spotter Network without liability to the same be implemented?
I really do see some serious citizen assistance in this area and would like to see if there’s any way it could at least add to the potential for assisting any child in danger…
